Everyone knows you must have skills to succeed in whatever job or career you’ve chosen for yourself. Why is it then when it comes to network marketing, most people think if they just talk to enough people and have the right attitude that it will somehow all work out?

The truth is…97% of networkers have the 80/20 rule completely backwards. Why is this the case? It’s because they lack the specific skills needed to succeed in their business.

I promised Success Coach Kathy Zimmer that I’d limit myself to one rant a quarter. It’s July…YIPPEE! A new quarter and I get to go on a rant.

It just drives me nuts how far off base the collective consciousness is in network marketing today. How to sponsor more people is the calling card of the ‘magic system’ peddlers, fleecing the new, inexperienced or improperly trained reps of millions and millions and millions of dollars.

It’s not all their fault…it’s criminal, but it really takes 2 for the crime. I’m not mad at them, they’re not worth the price of my time. It’s really the companies, the MLM companies, who have led the flocks down the wrong path.

They don’t seem to know the business they’re in.

Doing The Simple Things Brings Network Marketing Success

Some years ago, I had the pleasure of randomly running into a famous comedian. I was at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles having lunch with some friends. Over lunch, we were discussing the stressful relationship I was in at the time. I had gone outside to get something out of my car, when I noticed a familiar looking person walking towards me. As he got closer, I recognized that it was Rodney Dangerfield.

After a brief hello and some talk about the weather, he made the mistake of asking me what was going on in my life. My relationship woes were very raw that day, so I spent the next 10 or 15 minutes telling him my problems. (I figured I’d never see him again). Do you ever feel like you’re the only one reading the posts on your blog? You know, the ones you spent a lot of time and effort on getting them just right? You’re even writing blogs to HELP people in some area, but most of the time, very few people are noticing what you’ve poured your heart into.

First of all, make sure you have an option on your site so people can easily opt-in to receive your posts by email. A good service to use is Google FeedBurner. Set it up to have just a small portion of your post come to their inbox, then people will have a reason to click-thru to your blog to read more. Finding the Right People for Network Marketing Success

You may have heard it said many times in network marketing trainings that you can’t say the wrong thing to the right person, and you can’t say the right thing to the wrong person. This was one of the things I believed was true as I worked my business and tried to gain network marketing success . But why was it that I was always running into a lot more “wrong people” than I was “right people.” I found this quite frustrating to say the least.

One of the “strategies” I tried was the 3-foot rule….you know, if people are within 3 feet of you for more than 3 seconds, you throw up on them about your fabulous network marketing opportunity.  Then I refined this strategy so if anyone was within 3 feet of me in some line or whatever, I would figure out without even talking to them that they were the “wrong person” so I wouldn’t need to waste any time talking to them. Can you blame them?

Between all the ‘high ticket’ programs ripping MLM (multi-level marketing), the ‘new school’ bashing for MLM and the promises riches for doing little …..it’s not hard to figure out why this ended up in the #1 spot.

Use the 80/20 Rule for Successful Empowerment

For those of you in networking businesses, summer usually means a decrease in sales and sign-ups due to people going on vacations or otherwise not focused on business. You can use an important principle as a successful empowerment strategy and grow your business during those times when others are seeing a decline.

The Pareto Principle

There is a principle out there called Pareto’s Principle, which has been known in the last decade as the 80/20 rule. There is a way to use this rule for successful empowerment in your business and grow your business during the summer, rather than see a decline in revenue. The 80/20 rule states that 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes. Applied to business, this would equate to 80% of your sales come from 20% of your clients or 80% of your results come from 20% of your effort. You get the idea. In 1941, a business-management consultant named Joseph M. Juran named this principle after the Italian economist, Vilfredo Pareto, who observed in 1906 that 80% of the land in Italy was owned by 20% of the population. NO, NOT MY OPINION

Written by Peter Han, a Harvard grad…..and the result of interviewing over 100 ‘Nobodies who became Somebodies…..is the resource, not an opinion.  It is a great piece of work for anyone who wants to know…..what does leadership mean?

Really.

What is very cool is folks who understand leadership attributes seem to be better leaders…..I know that may sound like I am stating the obvious but the truth is too much of the time people rely on ‘ability’ or ‘copy’ other leaders…..thinking it is a good thing…..and, honestly….it may be, but it’s unlikely to be a great thing.

That is the interesting question…..what are you….what am I doing to learn to lead.

While there are some good books out there, nothing, and I am sure you’d agree, is better than folks who went from rags to riches.
