If you desire success in your network marketing business, you’ll need to consider a few crucial elements. First of all don’t worry, none of this is complicated. If you’ll follow some basic principles of success, you will see your business grow. There are 3 factors that you need to keep in mind that will determine where you are in 5 years: your skill set, your mindset & work ethic, and who you hang out with. The post entitled “Your DMP & OATS” is where you need to begin. You need to have these two elements in place before you begin your journey to success. Your Definite Major Purpose (DMP) is your “blueprint” to build the success you desire. It cannot be overlooked. When someone wants to build a bridge, for example, a very detailed and specific blueprint is needed, or no bridge will be built (or one that you would want to drive across anyway). Make your DMP as crystal clear as you can. When you speak it out loud 3 times per day, it trains your subconscious mind that this is what needs to happen and forces are set in motion which lead to your desired results. Your OATS is your action plan to acquire your DMP.
Now on to the next element – duplication. Duplication is a key skill in network marketing. Having everyone on your team (including yourself) follow a simple system that is highly duplicatable is what needs to happen in order to have big success. If everyone on your team is doing their own thing, it’s not only exhausting to manage as a team leader, it’s just plain ineffective. The goal or objective is for everyone to learn how to bring in 2 people per week and be able to teach others to do the same. The numbers start out small, but then can grow into very large numbers as everyone just focuses on following a simple system to bring in 2 new reps per week. Your company should already have a simple system in place which includes a short presentation – i.e. a recorded or live call, a webinar, a link to email, a CD or DVD. Below are examples of simple systems that are used to turn prospects into enrollees:
Dials – call prospects Conversations – talk to prospects (find out their “why,” get to know them, etc.) Presentations – send them to your company’s short presentation Close – follow-up and close them into your business
SIT-DOWN PRESENTATION system example: (tell the prospect):
1) I have something I’d like to show you.
2) It will only take about 15 minutes.
3) You may or may not be interested. (This takes the pressure off of them).
(Then set the appointment to show the prospect your short presentation.)
After you enroll them, teach your new reps duplication using your company’s simple system and outsource their additional skill training. An excellent site for this is Free Network Skills.
It is important to remember that network marketing is a skill based business. In the beginning, you may have to contact more people to bring in your 2 per week. As your skill increases, you’ll find that you can talk to less people and enroll more, i.e. 4 per week.
In addition to teaching your team duplication, make sure your team also has their DMP & OATS before them. Give your team their own “keys” to success and you will be greatly rewarded for your efforts. Please remember that none of this stuff is difficult. Someone once told me they thought I was doing an “extraordinary” job. If you break it down, it really meant that they just noticed that I was doing extra of the ordinary. Ordinary being the simple things that we talked about above. I was just doing them on a very consistent basis. This is the “magic” that everyone looks for in order to obtain great success in their business. It’s called get the skills and go to work. Hence the name, network marketing. But keep it simple, because simple pays more!
