Not many of us would say there aren’t things in ourselves or our lives that we’d change if we could. The great news is that change is absolutely possible. Change is a process, so expect to exercise a little patience as you go. We’ll talk about a few things you can do right away to empower and improve yourself, but having a focus and a clarity of purpose is vital. You can begin today to take some steps to improve yourself and thereby improve your life. It’s really about getting the slight edge to work for you. The slight edge is simple disciplines repeated over time working for you or against you. Are your daily actions or disciplines moving you towards your goal, or moving you away from it?
The first step is to clearly define your definite major purpose. What do you really want? What do you need more of in your life? What do you need less of in your life. Be as specific as you can and write it down. It won’t become dynamic until it is specific. Do you want to make more money in your network marketing business? Write down the exact amount you want and give it a “on or before” deadline. Do you want to get out of debt once and for all? Write down what you owe and the date you’re determined to have it cleared. This will give you a clarity and a focus and point you in the right direction. Just like a compass does.
Improving yourself and improving your life really comes down to knowing what you want, clarifying it, and taking those small and seemingly insignificant steps daily towards your goal. It is such a simple concept that most people miss it and keep looking for the “real” answer.
When I was a kid of about 10, I wanted a green bean garden. That was my definite major purpose. I was going to have a garden and we were going to eat my beans. What stood in my way, however, was a garden full of weeds and and other strange plants. No one wanted to help me do the work, so I did it myself. Every Saturday I was out there pulling the weeds and those other plants, and preparing the soil. It was a lot of work, but I was making progress little by little. A few weeks later, we did have the beans. A lot of them. Did it happen overnight? That would have been nice, but that was not the case.
That’s the slight edge. It can be applied to anything.
A couple of final things. Pay attention to the words that you’re speaking, for they are programming your subconscious mind and your spirit either positively or negatively. Also be aware of the small and not so small miracles that will happen to you and around you as you move forward and apply the slight edge philosophy to your definite major purpose with focused clarity. Mix in some faith, courage, and an attitude of thankfulness for any help you’re given along the way. Being thankful for what you receive and giving to others opens the door to more blessings and miracles in your life.
To your success,
